Daniel was born and raised in Asheville, NC. He has always felt a strong calling to serve his community. His commitment to public service began when he joined the United States Army, where he served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his military service, Daniel learned the values of leadership, discipline, and accountability from exceptional mentors, principles that continue to shape his approach to representing clients today.
After completing his military service, Daniel served as a police officer in Georgia. During his law enforcement career, Daniel developed extensive expertise in impaired driving investigations and was selected to serve on a DUI Task Force. He investigated hundreds of DUI cases and held certifications in the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST’s), Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), Intoxilyzer 9000 Breath Testing Machine, and held a certification as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), a specialized designation held by only a select number of officers nationwide, among other certifications.
Drawing upon his firsthand experience in both the military and law enforcement, Daniel recognized that he could make the greatest impact by advocating for individuals navigating the criminal justice system. He left law enforcement to pursue a legal career and dedicate himself to protecting the constitutional rights of those accused of crimes.
Daniel attended Arizona State University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a minor in Political Science. He then earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee – Winston College of Law with a concentration in client advocacy.
During law school Daniel received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in wrongful convictions and served as the vice president of the International Law Students Association (ILSA)
In his spare time Daniel enjoys spending time with his children, and watching Tennessee Volunteers sporting events.
