Liza Guben Wells was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Liza attended Florida State University where she graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Hospitality Administration. After her undergraduate studies, Liza attended Nova Southeastern University where she graduated cum laude and earned her J.D. During law school, Liza served as executive editor of the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law and was a member of Moot Court Society. Upon graduation, Liza was admitted to the Florida and Tennessee Bar.
Before moving to Knoxville, Liza worked as an Assistant State Attorney at the Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office in the Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Unit. Liza joined the Knox County District Attorney General’s Office in January of 2022, where she worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the DUI unit. In 2025, Liza participated in community outreach by empowering young women at the University of Tennessee to make smart choices. Liza presented to the different sororities during Panhellenic Rush and stressed the importance of consent, and safe practices in the context of driving under the influence.
In her spare time, Liza enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and golden doodle, Penny. She also enjoys traveling, specifically to Miami to visit friends and family.
